Chris Kort, CPO is the president of Prosthetics in Motion. Chris entered the field of prosthetics to make a difference and to help people improve the quality of their lives. He is a perceptive, compassionate, talented prosthetist, with 14 years experience and can easily be considered an expert in the field. Chris has helped amputees in a vast array of areas such lower limb prostheses including; below the knee prostheses, above the knee prostheses, knee disarticulation, symes, partial foot, hip disarticulation, bi-laterals, van ness rotationplasty, proximal femoral focal deficiency and
upper limb prostheses including - body powered and myoelectric. We also specialize in pediatric, sports & specialty prostheses as well as cosmetic prostheses. Chris offers the highest standard of care through his attention to detail, ability to listen and hear your concerns, skills acquired through his many years of experience, and solid educational background. NEW CUSTOM DESIGNED RAMP & STAIRS 
Prosthetics in Motion installed a custom designed ramp and stairs in our mid-town Manhattan facility. This will enable patients to learn how to utilize their state of the art prostheses to the best of their ability. Decending ramps, declines and stairs with micro-processor knees and ankles provides safety and stability. The new ramp enables our patients to be educated on the proper techniques to tackle this usually daunting task. With the new prostheses and education under their belts, our patients leave feeling confident for the outside world!
VACUUM SOCKET TECHNOLOGY
Prosthetics in Motion has successfully completed Otto Bocks New Harmony Course. Traditionally vacuum was predominantly for transtibial patients - Prosthetics in Motion’s emphasis is to utilize vacuum for transfemoral as well as transtibial amputees. The patients pictured above were successfully fit with vacuum sockets. Both patients experienced a better connection with their prosthesis, as well as an increase in range of motion at the hip region due to lower trimlines of their sockets - this in turn also contributed to a more comfortable socket during walking and sitting.
ABC ACCREDITED FACILITY
The American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics (ABC) recently awarded Prosthetics in Motion, Inc as an ABC Accredited Facility. ABC sets high standards for organizations so when a facility is accredited by ABC, it is considered the mark of exceptional quality. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid service has validated ABC’s accreditation program and has established ABC’s accreditation as an approved prerequisite for suppliers of prosthetics, orthotics and pedorthics. This is another example that Prosthetics In Motion, Inc Manhattan, is committed to the highest quality prosthetic care for our patients!
C-LEG ROADSHOW
Prosthetics in Motion sponsored the Otto Bock Roadshow at Mt Sinai Hospital! A select few above the knee amputees, who do not currently utilize micro-processor technology, had the opportunity to try out the C-Leg while working with Chris Kort, CPO.
RECENT EDUCATIONAL EVENTS/SEMINARS Keeping up with the latest prosthetic technology, Chris Kort, CPO attended the Ossur Bionic Symposium. The Proprio Foot, The Rheo Knee 2, and the Power Knee 2 were the focus of this educational course.
Prosthetics in Motion and Touch Bionics provided an in-depth in-service on the i-LIMB prosthetic hand to the physical rehabilitation staff at Mount Sinai Hospital. Chris Kort attended the Sub-Atmospheric Suspension Systems: Clinical Applications and Evidence, presented by the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists.
  Prosthetics in Motion teamed up with the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) and Ossur to provide custom designed running prostheses for Harvey Parry a 3 year 9 month old little boy. CAF donated the Flex-Run prosthetic feet manufactured by Ossur and Prosthetics in Motion donated time and experience to fit and align them. Prothetics in Motion custom designed the socket and frames which the Parry family paid for through their fundraising. Harvey lost his legs to meningitis when he was a baby. His family does not have health insurance and faces the staggering cost of paying for his future prosthetic care. Harvey's family is constantly fund raising to purchase his prosthetic legs which need to be replaced every year due to growth. To read more about Harvey and to make a donation, please click here.
